Case Study

Reference Financial is the estate planning and deferred sales trust partner company to Reference Insurance. Reference Insurance has been in existence since 2008, and for 17 years has been the national insurance broker for AMFA, the mechanics union for all of Southwest Airlines and Alaska Airlines. We have other national clients including the national UPS Store Owners Association, Independent Trustees Alliance, ICBCH, and other associations.

Using the resources we have obtained in providing insurance solutions for unions and association members, we are able to provide tailored solutions to our individual clients.

Case Study

The State of Washington was implementing new tax on all private employer W2 employees. We were able to find an exemption solution for one of our airline clients. This solution was unique and recognized by other major, publically traded insurance brokers and wealth management firms who used Reference and our solution for their clients. The savings for our clients was significant. We estimated that by doing this exemption, Reference was able to save the 800 members of the airline union over $3M in payroll taxes over the next 10 years.

Case Study

Several states do not have a direct billed PPO option from a BUCAH networked carrier. Many entrepreneurs, business owners and1099 sales people are denied access to the types of health insurance coverage they want, and subsequently are forced to buy only what is available through the Marketplace. Reference is one of the few brokers in the country that can put our clients into a private, non public health plan that is offered through our relationships with associations and unions. In many instances, this saves our individual client several thousand per year, while providing better coverage. We have helped hundreds of people get the plan the want and spend less in getting it.

Case Study

Client owned several hundred rural land parcels. Decades later, the area had become a popular area just outside a large metropolitan area. The owner wanted to cash out his holdings in real estate, but did not need the money and was shocked at the tax bill that he faced. Reference was able to suggest the use of a deferred sales Trust which maximized the gains by spreading the taxable proceeds into the future.
